WordPress Worm on outdated software

According to a WordPress blog article, some WordPress users have been targeted by a worm. This is only affecting WordPress software which is outdated.

If you are using an old version of WordPress, upgrade now as the 2.8.4 version of WordPress is immune to the worm. Download at http://wordpress.org/download

WordPress recommends that if you have been targeted to carry out the following:

• Scan you local machine.
• Check with your hosting provider to determine if it is a hack.
• Change your passwords.
• Make a backup of your files and database.
